DESCRIPTION:Dr. Mathieu Bourbonnais explores wildfire risk\, the rural–urban interface\, and how we can manage properties and better coexist with fire. \n\n\n\n\nJoin us at Barn Owl Brewing for an engaging\, TED Talk–style talk with Dr. Mathieu Bourbonnais\, Assistant Professor in Earth and Environmental Sciences at UBC Okanagan and Director of the Canadian Prescribed Fire Training Program. \nDr. Bourbonnais will explore wildfire risk and fire management\, with a focus on the concept of wildfire coexistence and what it means for communities like Kelowna. He will discuss the rural–urban interface\, where most of our region exists\, and how this landscape shapes wildfire behaviour and response. \nIn this informal and accessible talk\, he will share practical insights into how homeowners can better manage their properties and play a role in reducing wildfire risk while supporting broader fire management efforts. \nGrab a drink\, settle in\, and enjoy an evening of big ideas and great conversation.
